The event BEYOND THE BARRIERS, organized by ArtAndCharity O.D.V. at the Ubik Bookstore in Varese, took place from November 9 to 16, 2024. Conceived and curated by Manuela Codazzi, the event involved national and international artists in an art exhibition dedicated to the theme of disability, accompanied by a musical vernissage and touching testimonies.
The exhibition explored the challenges and barriers faced by people with disabilities, using art as a universal language to promote inclusivity and solidarity. The curator selected nationally and internationally renowned artists such as Roberto Caielli (photography), Stefano Ceretti (photography), Giuseppe Cozzi (photography), Paul Albert Dari (painting), Mauro Garofalo (graphic art), Grazia Giani (painting), Gianni Landonio (painting), Silvio Monti (Guest Artist), Paola Ponzellini (painting), Monica M. Rossi (painting) and Giovanni Tommasi (photography) who exhibited works of strong emotional impact. Each work was accompanied by a description to deepen the message conveyed.
The vernissage, a beautiful concert titled MUSIC-ABILMENTE, was preceded by valuable speeches from Dr. Rocco Scocozza (general director of Focaccia Group), Dr. Andrea Avila (director of the Cooperativa Magari Domani Onlus) and presented by M° Mario Roncuzzi.
The concert featured performances by violinist Alessandra Sonia Romano, accordionist Nadio Marenco, and narrator Elda Olivieri, offering the audience an emotional journey on the theme of disability.
The concert was broadcast live by RADIO VILLAGE NETWORK.
At the Libreria Ubik, during the exhibition, it hosted editorial presentations with authors like Andrea Vitali and Marco Balzano, as well as cultural meetings of the Associazione Jonas of Varese.
Thanks to the invaluable collaboration with FOCACCIA GROUP and DALMA FORYOU, the public was given the opportunity to experience firsthand the different possibilities for inclusive mobility.
Our thanks for the great support received go to the National Carabinieri Association of Varese, to New Energy Italia of Gazzada Schianno (Va), to ArtistaOnLine and to the many volunteers who ensured the smooth running of the event.
The initiative, sponsored by Regione Lombardia, Provincia and Comune di Varese, attracted over 600 visitors, confirming its success both culturally and socially.
