Great attendance, curiosity and lots of applause for the meeting with Professor Serena Contini, star of an engaging journey through the artistic path of one of the most important Italian painters of the twentieth century. Also presented was ARTandCHARITY’s new project dedicated to reconstructing Brunello’s history.
An evening of culture, art and emotion. On Thursday 8 October, the series of meetings GIOVEdìBRUNELLO, promoted by ARTandCHARITY, offered the public an event of great interest, dedicated to Renato Guttuso and his relationship with the great masters of art history.
The meeting’s protagonist was Professor Serena Contini, who with expertise, passion and outstanding storytelling skills was able to guide those present in discovering Guttuso’s artistic path, revealing references, inspirations, works and ties with artists of the past.
“Brunello yesterday – history, people and images”: a new project for the town’s memory
Before getting to the heart of the artistic meeting, the president of ARTandCHARITY, Giovanni Tommasi, presented to the public a new and important cultural project the association is carrying out: the historical reconstruction of the town of Brunello.

An ambitious initiative, born from an idea by Paolo Ballerio and Manuela Codazzi, with the aim of rebuilding and enhancing the town’s history, collecting accounts, documents, images and memories able to preserve over time the identity of the community and the people who have marked its path.
The president then gave the floor to the promoters of the initiative, who outlined the aims and prospects of this project, entitled “Brunello yesterday – history, people and images”.
The work aims to retrace Brunello’s history through the ages, giving space to places, changes in the area, families and the events of everyday life. A heritage of memory that they wish to preserve and make accessible to everyone through a digital-format production, so that it can be consulted, known and passed on to future generations as well.
A project that fits fully within ARTandCHARITY’s mission: to promote culture, safeguard memory and create opportunities for participation and growth for the whole community.

Renato Guttuso: a journey through art, history and inspirations
After the presentation of the project, Professor Lorenzo Dominioni introduced the speaker, marking the start of the central moment of the evening.
Through a splendid presentation, enriched with anecdotes, insights into the works and curiosities, Professor Contini guided the audience in discovering an artist with an extraordinary personality. Those present were able to explore how Guttuso, while maintaining a deeply personal artistic voice, was able to engage with tradition and pay tribute to the great masters who had come before him.
The public’s interest also emerged in the lively Q&A session: many contributions, a clear sign of the curiosity sparked by the topics addressed. Professor Contini replied clearly and thoroughly, offering further food for thought and making the meeting even more engaging.
To seal the evening, lots of applause, well-deserved recognition for a talk able to combine cultural rigor, outreach, and genuine passion for art.
In closing, President Giovanni Tommasi recalled ARTandCHARITY’s aims and the value of the initiatives through which the association promotes culture and art, while also supporting solidarity projects. He also previewed the many events scheduled in the coming weeks, inviting everyone to keep taking part in the association’s activities.
