Yesterday morning, Wednesday, November 5, we had the privilege – as the Artandcharity association – of crossing the threshold of Maestro Silvio Monti's studio in Varese.
The occasion was the conclusion of the course “EXXISTERE: story of an artist”, held at UniCagnola and always conceived in collaboration with our association. A journey that united art, life, and thought, culminating in this direct encounter with the artist himself, in a space that is at once a workshop, memory, and visual poetry.
Crossing the threshold of his studio was like immersing ourselves in a magical place that completely absorbs you, after closing the door that still holds connections to that external world which, once crossed, immediately appears as a faded memory.

Inside, everything speaks of him and his long, intense creative adventure, everything is alive: the large canvases, the sculptures, the tools, the colors.
Everything breathes and tells a story, and even those who are not deeply knowledgeable about the subject find themselves naturally involved, as if the works know how to find a way to speak to each person, directly and universally.
The event, like the entire project, was met with deep and genuine success: the emotions were palpable, the smiles sincere, and the comments and testimonials that followed confirm it. It was not just a visit, but a true, human, almost intimate encounter with a man who made art a full and conscious way of existence.
Silvio Monti welcomed us with a disarming humanity. He gave himself completely, with an open heart and great availability, guiding us through the different areas of his studio, showing us his works, telling anecdotes, experiences, encounters, fragments of an intense and meaningful life.
In his stories, as in his paintings, you can recognize that clarity of soul that makes his work immediately identifiable: every mark, every color, every gesture carries a reflection of his spirit.

His research, marked by an undeniable originality, is a coherent and deeply personal journey. Monti has experienced the world, and he has brought that world into his creations, transforming it into artistic language, into vision, into pure emotion.
In his studio, you can feel the lived time, the continuous dialogue between past and present, the tireless search for a truth that passes through matter and mark.
Monti, with his humility and depth, reminds us that art is not only creation, it is a condition of life, it is life itself as well as an unstoppable inner drive.
Having an artist like Silvio Monti in our territory is a fortune that deserves to be recognized and celebrated. His work and his person represent a precious human and cultural heritage, a living testimony of how much art can still touch, move, and unite.
This visit left a mark on each of us, small or large, but indelible. A mark, just like those the Maestro draws on his canvases: authentic, vibrant, full of meaning.
